I realized early on that in my career as a photographer my influences have been other painters as opposed to photographers. Visiting exhibitions of painters that highlighted intense and vivid color was what I have been drawn to. I remember walking into the Philadelphia Museum and seeing the painting “Burning houses of Parliament”! The reds, yellows, and the oranges!! That painting has had a profound effect on my art. The abstract way in which that scene was captured. Bending reality! When I chose photography as my medium to explore it was that painting that drifted into my work as inspiration constantly. I was chasing that work. I was chasing JMW Turner. 

It is this journey that I intent to discuss during my presentation.
